Register – Peru Working Group Project Presentation: Strengthening Regulation of Private Security in Peru

Join the Voluntary Principles Initiative (VPI) in this session on Strengthening Regulation of Private Security in Peru. Panelists from the Institute of Democracy and Human Rights of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (IDEHPUCP) will present an overview of their project “Private Security in Peru: Towards the Introduction of International Human Rights Standards”, funded by the Voluntary Principles Association. Panelists will provide highlights of this project’s activities: i) an evaluation of the government-approved, mandatory training curriculum for private security in Peru;* ii) adaptation of the curriculum to include international human rights standards; and iii) development of further policy recommendations to the Peruvian government regarding improving the regulation of private security. A presentation by the panelists will be followed by a Q&A session.

IDEHPUCP, the Institute of Democracy and Human Rights, is an academic unit of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru and the acting Secretariat of the Working Group on Business and Human Rights in Peru focused on the implementation of the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights and the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights in the country.
