Funding for Project in Peru on Private Security Training

The Voluntary Principles Association (VPA) approved the disbursement of a grant to provide funding to the Voluntary Principles In-Country Implementation Working Group in Peru. The funding will be used to undertake the project “Evaluation of the Plan of Studies for Training and Improvement in Private Security in Peru: Towards the Introduction of International Human Rights Standards”.
The project objectives are i) to contribute to the adaptation of the Plan of Studies for Training and Improvement in Private Security to International Human Rights standards; ii) to improve the training of private security agents and their actions in the performance of their duties; and iii) to enhance the interactions between companies’ security providers and local communities.
The agreement was signed with IDEHPUCP, an academic unit of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, which will coordinate the project implementation.
