The annual plenary session of the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights was held in Amsterdam in March 2008

The Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights Plenary held its annual session in Amsterdam on March 3 and 4, 2008, marking the seven-year anniversary of the dialogue. The first day of the Plenary focused on governance issues while the second day focused on strategies for in-country implementation and engagement efforts. Guests involved in the Colombia and Nigeria in-country processes presented on the status of their work and provided input to the Plenary on future strategies for strengthening efforts.

The composition of the Steering Committee for 2007 was set, consisting of Rio Tinto, ExxonMobil, IKV Pax Christi, Oxfam International and the governments of the Netherlands and Norway. Participants were confirmed for the Nigeria Task Force, the Governance Working Group as well as the Communications Working Group, which is focusing on developing reporting guidelines.
